Hey y’all! Katie here— my birthday is in a month, and I want to celebrate it by showering my friend Tyler Thomas in love & support! You probably know Ty from various markets as “The Shugawooks,” selling handcrafted leather products, wood carved art pieces, little acorn mushroom pendants, and crystal jewelry. He’s been fighting cancer the past 2 months & has another couple hard months of chemo & radiation ahead before surgery is even on the table. He’s had to leave his work in the special needs classroom as well as not set up at markets because of his health. If you know Ty, you know he’s a generous soul who doesn’t deserve this card he’s been dealt!
On May 21st, I’ll be hosting an open mic at From the Ground Up Garden, kicked off by my old band Monarch & the Milkweeds. All forms of art welcome— music, poetry, dance, comedy, clowning, anything! Minimum $10 donation at the gate to support Ty’s living expenses as he focuses on kicking cancer’s ass.
Open mic sign up starts at 5 pm. BYO chairs or blankets. I’ll provide some snacks & drinks but feel free to bring whatever you’d like as well.
